After arriving to Bocas del Toro, Bill Cortez and his wife, who are being investigated for three murders in Bocas del Toro, built a bar over the water 100 yards down the shore from the property they had taken over in Cauchero.

Originally, they planned to run the property as a bar but ended up throwing parties every couple of weekends.  Invitations were sent out by text message and Bocas residents would meet up to drink beers, eat hot dogs and go swimming, according to a source that would prefer to remain anonymous.

An ad published in the August 2009 Bocas Breeze presented the Jolly Roger Social Club as the only expat membership club in Bocas with the slogan:  ”Only 90% of our members survive.”  It advertises plenty of dock space, mooring balls, 24-hour security, hotel rooms, a swim platform, horseback riding and poker nights, and states the location as Cauchero at Cutthroat Cove.
