USS Iwo Jima is Coming
The multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima will visit Panama on its 2010 Continuing Promise humanitarian tour.
The 40,000 ton goodwill-ambassador deployed from its home-port in Norfolk, Va. on July 12 and has just left Miami loaded with supplies. More than 1,600 sailors, marines, soldiers, airmen and civilians will travel to to Haiti, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Guyana and Suriname on the four-month mission.
The USS Iwo Jima is also set to engage in various exercises and operations, including theater security cooperation and military-to-military engagements, according to Wavy.com.

Can you tell me when Iwo Jima will be in Panama (Colon or Panama City). I served in the US Navy in the 60′s and Iam currently living in Panama now and would like to take my 9year old newphew to see it while it is here. I live in Western Panama and Panama City is 7hrs away and Colon is 9 hrs.
