Septic Tanks Get Needed Attention
Residents of 11B street in Arraijan’s Tecal neighborhood are overwhelmed by the stench of the overflowing septic tanks behind their homes.
“We have lived on this street 11 years and have never seen anyone come to clean these septic tanks,” said street resident Luis Moreno.
Arraijan Mayor Manolith Samaniego said that the municipality is in charge of clearing out weeds, but it’s up to the National Aqueduct and Sewage Systems Institute to clean septic tanks.
Representive Zuleyka Zurita of Vista Alegre took action and is managing the acquisition of a backhoe to clean the area and condition the muddy ground so that sewage pumping trucks can get to the tanks.
