Bridge of the Americas Road Work Starts Today
The Ministry of Public Works begins road repairs on the Bridge of the Americas today.
Eliecer Broce, the Ministry’s Director of Inspection, said that scraping the asphalt and patching the road will take at least a month and a half.
Drivers can expect heavier traffic although workers will break from 4 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in an effort to accommodate work-goings and comings. An estimated 50,000 users travel over the bridge each day.
The Ministry of Public Works also commissioned a study of the bridge’s deteriorated running boards and structure to be ready by January 2011.
UPDATE: Word on the street as of Wednesday, July 28, is that drivers had not seen signs of repair work underway on the bridge.
