Panama: Where the World Meets

Panama has a new image and it will be showing it off in the U.S. press.

On Thursday, President Ricardo Martinelli launched the “Panama: Where the World Meets” campaign that seeks to lure U.S. investors with prosperity and promise to a safe port from the instability in international markets.

“Our dollar economy, our infrastructure, our simplified tax structure and of course our location make us a great and attractive place for new investments and global economic development,” Martinelli is posted as saying on www.meetpanama.com.pa.

The first phase of the campaign, which will run through the first quarter of 2011,  is being launched with full page ads in the Wall Street Journal, Politico and Roll Call newspapers and on online news sites like The New York Times, Bloomberg, CNBC and Google, among others.

In the past, Panama has tried slogans including: Panama, Crossroads of the World; Panama, It Stays in You; Panama, Destination/Destiny Nation and Panama, Surprises.
