The San Jose de Malambo Orphanage has received a $20,000 donation from Minera Panama just in time for the holidays.

“Minera Panama’s donation will allow Malambo’s HIV-positive orphans to receive the medical care and nutritional supplements they need to help them survive and thrive,” said orphanage director Sister Lourdes Reiss.

The Malambo Orphanage, currently home to 180 children, depends almost exclusively on the donations of individuals and organizations to care for and educate its children.

Minera Panama is a Panamanian subsidiary of Canada -based Inmet Mining Corporation developing a copper mine in the Province of Colon.

The donation was received through the Build a Bridge Foundation, a non-profit charity dedicated to raising support for the poor children of Panama.
