Another Dead in Little Tijuana

Panamanian Demetrio Vasquez Gamboa’s body was found outside a bar on the border between Panama and Costa Rica on Tuesday.

He had been fatally shot three times, La Prensa reports.

This is the third homicide in the Paso Canoa area known for drug and contraband trafficking. Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation unit is looking into the murder, and the Panamanian government plans to increase its border control.

Incidentally, just over a week ago, Minister of Homeland Security Raul Mulino told the Associated Press that the trafficking activities in Paso Canoa, which he nicknames “Little Tijuana”, could only be solved by erecting a wall between Panama and Costa Rica.

In the urban dictionary, Little Tijuana is defined as a large mob or crowd of mexicans(or immigrants) gathering at a certain area in a high school – usually in front of a library, media center, or restroom – be it before class, during class, during lunch, or after school.
