Fake Police Officers Steal 49 Cattle

Eight individuals were arrested Friday and sent the town of David’s public jail after trying to steal 49 cattle from a local breeder.

The head of Chiriqui Police, David Ramos Villa, said Ulises Muñoz, owner of the cattle herd, was going to sell the cattle to a purported buyer, Marcos Tulio Peña, for $30,000.

As money was changing hands, At the time of payment, several subjects arrived in a white Suzuki claiming to be members of the National Police.   Muñoz says that the alleged officers then handcuffed him and held him long enough to give their accomplices time to take off with his herd in two ten-wheel trucks.  The destinations are presumed to have been the Veraguas and Los Santos provinces.

Thankfully, the cow thieves were apprehended by real police officers a checkpoint down the road along with the 49 cows.
