New Food Court for Tocumen International Airport
The Tierra Firme restaurant and sole hot dog stand in Panama’s Tocumen International Airport terminal can expect competition.
The Puerto Rican-based International Meal Company (IMC) won the bid to administer the airport’s food court for the next 15 years. The food court company guaranteed a monthly income of $133, 500 as well as a considerable down payment.
“We have a great challenge in the Tocumen airport in Panama,” IMC Caribe CEO Jose Algain said through a press release. “We will be investing $5 million over the next 120 days, developing international brands.”
The brands include Margaritaville, Cinnabon, Haagen Dazs, Quiznos, Teriyaki, Carls Jr., Dominos, Chesters and local Panamanian franchise Coffee Samaritans.
This will come as welcome news to transiters tired of the hot dogs and waiting for often occupied Tierra Firme tables within the terminal.
The introduction of a food court accompanies the expansion of the Tocumen terminal and the plans to build Airport City.
