Taiwanese Security Agent Fired Over Panama Sex Scandal
Major General Yang Chien-ping of the Taiwan National Security Bureau has been dismissed for an extramarital affair he had in Panama.
Sheree Ma, a member of the Control Yuan, Taiwan’s investigative agency, compared Yang’s behavior to Ang Lee’s 2007 espionage thriller Lust, Caution in which an intelligence officer has an illicit affair during Japan’s occupation of Shangai, the Taiwan News reports.
The Control Yuan will investigate whether the National Security Bureau, Taiwan’s principal intelligence agency, tried to cover up Yang’s affair with the Taiwanese citizen who was also based in Panama. Yang will face a disciplinary board.
