Mother Delivers Sons For Dance Garden Murder
A mother turned her two sons in to the police when they allegedly told her they stabbed someone to death early Monday morning.
The crime in question is the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy nicknamed “Menor” near the Zoilita dance garden in Chepo. Menor was stabbed three times in the back and taken to the Chepo Regional Hospital but did not survive, La Critica reports.
Dance gardens, called jardines bailables in Panama, are cantinas with dance floors that generally play musica tipica or folkloric music.
Other recent crimes that have that have been reported recently near dance gardens include the fatal stabbing of an undocumented man in a 24 of December district dance garden in 2005; the fatal stabbing of a farm worker in a Concepcion, Chiriqui dance garden in 2007; a $100 robbery in the Turicentro de Tocumen dance garden in 2008; the beating of a woman in the face by her sister-in-law in a Los Santos Province dance garden in 2008; and the stabbing of an off-duty police officer at Jardin La Victoria this year; among others.
