Silvio Berlusconi is Here

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi landed at Panama’s Howard airport yesterday after nightfall.

Vice President Juan Carlos Varela was waiting to walk him down the red carpet flanked by police officers in new blue uniforms.

The Italian Prime Minister will meet with President Ricardo Martinelli today and is then off to the Atlantic Coast for the inauguration of the next phase of Panama Canal expansion.

This is Berlusconi’s first official visit to Panama.
