Police Arrested in Armory Theft
Three agents of the Judicial Investigation Department are being held for allegedly stealing six nine millimeter pistols from the institution’s armory.
Authorities suspect that the agents intended to sell the weapons to gangs as one of the nine millimeters has already been decommissioned from an El Chorillo gang member.
This is the second time that Judicial Investigation agents have been found stealing weapons from the depo to sell to gangs.
In June 2007, 30 firearms were lifted from the former Judicial Technical Police armory. Some of these were later found and recovered in a pawnshop.
