Child birthing pains surprised Verenice Espada Espinoza, age 19, when she withdrew to a San Miguelito latrine with stomach pains.

After giving birth, the new mother passed out and was taken to the San Miguel Arcangel Hospital.  Unbeknownst to anyone, the newborn had fallen into the latrine.

When the mother was able to explain to the doctors what had happened, the Preventative Motorized Service and the police destroyed the latrine and rescued the infant.

A local health center physical revealed that the latrine baby came out fine, weighing over eight pounds and measuring 16.6 inches.
