Construction workers, environmentalists, university teachers, politicians and representatives from other sectors of civil society filled Cathedral Plaza in protest of the recently approved golazo law, published as Law 30.

In front of the Presidency, signs read:  Thank you Mr. Martinelli, You and Noriega United Us; Stop the Violence Against Educators; Mining=Death, Panama Without Mines Now; and Politicians Ignorant Pigs.

The protesters arrived to the Casco Antiguo plaza at 6 p.m. after a two-hour march through the city and were gone by 6:45 p.m.  They presented an open letter to the President and will be taking the issue to the Supreme Court on Monday.

They are also urging people to stop shopping in the Super 99 supermarkets and Mega Depot belonging to the President, and to boycott products from the Varela Brothers, one of whom is Vice President Juan Carlos Varela.
