Betania Ranks First on Dengue Infestation Index
At 15.8 percent, Panama City’s Betania neighborhood has the highest levels of dengue infestation in all of Panama.
Health authorities will intensify fumigation efforts and are calling on the community to eliminate breeding pools where the Aedes Aegytpi mosquitos that transmit the diesease like to procreate.
The Juan Diaz neighborhood ranked second with 9.1 percent followed by Bella Vista at (7.3%), Tocumen (5.1%) and Parque Lefevre (4.4 %). In the interior of the country, the province of Los Santos with 4.4 percent beat out Chiriqui at 3.7 percent.
