Anti-Obesity Law on the Table

June 25, 2010

Representative Sergio Galvez will present a bill that would have the state cover the stomach reduction operation expenses for obese Panamanians.

According to Gálvez, his idea is that obese people have access to this surgery, which is fairly expensive in Panama.  The law would also sanction parents who contribute to the increased weight of their children.

Galvez weighed over 450 pounds, but he underwent the bariatric surgery in Colombia and has already lost 88 pounds.

La Critica reports.

Wow! Yeah Panama. Way to take on a Progressive Edge!

Here are some ideas about diversifying the economy with extracted fat!

Here’s an article about a liposuction doctor in LA who used his patients extracted fat to fuel his SUV! http://calorielab.com/news/2009/01/02/turning-belly-fat-into-fuel-scam-or-hustle/

And here’s an article about using extracted human fat as a source of bio-fuel!

The Earthrace boat fueled by lipodiesel (second link) came through Panama in 2008.

How about the idea of diet and exercise taught in schools and in the work place? Seems like a much cheaper and constructive way of handling the obesity situation!

Well yes, but not as profitable!

Another possible partial solution would be deterring the general public not to rear their infants and children and selves on diets consisting strictly of fried factory farmed chicken and coca-cola. Sucking the fat out of people after they have already gotten fat will merely create the illusion of improvement, however much it bolsters growth in the liposuction sector.

They will need another sausage-law to pass it.
This time a special sausage with ground hormone chicken, horse brains, ground mad cow bones and human fat. Could also add some blue lamb tongues to give it a more interesting color.

Would be more appetizing than the previous one.
