After a year of sitting in the Municipal Urban and Residential Waste Management Department parking lot, there are now eight repaired Municipal Urban and Residential Waste Management Department garbage trucks back on the streets ready for recollection duty.

Motors were rehauled and the trucks fitted with new hub caps and tires for a total cost of $15,000 or $1,875 per truck, if the math is correct.  Certain trucks initially only needed a $50 filter change but deteriorated during their year off.

These eight trucks are part of a total of 16 that will be rescued from the fleet of 35 Municipal Urban and Residential Waste Management Department vehicles that had fallen into disrepair, said Zenon Navalo, assistant to the Minister to the Presidency, Demetrio Papadimitriu.

This action was taken as a result of the trash build-up crisis experienced by the city these past months.
