New Archbishop Inaugurated

Monsignor Jose Domingo Ulloa Mendieta was inaugurated as the Archbishop of Panama yesterday in a crowded Cathedral Plaza in Casco Viejo.

Panama’s 47th archbishop, named by Pope Benedicto XVI in February, was born in Chitre in the Province of Herrera on December 24th, 1956.  He is the third of three brothers born to Dagoberto Ulloa y Clodomira Mendieta.

Ulloa Mendieta is concerned with the poor state of health, education, security and the lack of opportunities for poor people.
