U.S. Man Killed in Chiriqui

At approximately 9 a.m. this morning, two men entered a home in the Altamar 2 development of the Dolega district.

The intruders gagged a women and beat and killed American Paul Roger Nunes, age 60, before taking items from the house and a Dodge 4×4. Jonathan Scott, who explained to the authorities that he was the woman’s husband arrived on the scene shortly after, saying that he was responding to a call.  Authorities held him  for questioning.

Nunes had only lived in the area two months and was sharing the house the couple and their baby, La Prensa reports.  He was the CEO of Stonecastle Homes, Inc., an Oregon-based construction-building contractor, with an estimated annual revenue of  $1 to $2.5 million, according to the Manta small business company profile.

Mayor of Dolega, Lino Pitti, said that there are very few police units for the district, principally in the Los Algarrobos area where there are 25 neighborhoods.
