Robbers Assault $22,000 Tourists
Dominican tourists Justiniano De La Cruz and Micomio Muñoz were robbed Tuesday night on the Panama-Colon Highway.
Four masked and armed assailants ambushed the tourists and stole $10,000 from De La Cruz and $12,000 from Muñoz, in addition to jewelry and cell phones valued at more than $500.
The robbers fled in a red car, leaving the tourists, who were on their way to Colon to shop, moneyless in their white car, La Critica Reports. Although these Dominicans were carrying more cash than the average tourist, reports on the street indicate that stealing from cars is becoming more popular whether at gas stations, traffic lights or along highways.
