“I am not thinking about reelection,” President Martinelli told Telemetro Reporta yesterday.  ”I am going to enjoy life.”

Although reelection reform may not be on his agenda, he does however see a need to update Panama’s 1972 constitution, which he classifies as archaic and old, in order for Panama to advance.  So, he will invoke an annual plebiscite to generate some thought about education reform, the fight against organized crime, drug trafficking and election issues.

La Estrella also reports that regarding suspicions by the opposing political party that this talk of constitutional reform is just a ruse to package reforms to allow for Martinelli’s reelection, the President said:  ”I’m not cut out for this crap.”
