Economic and Social Protest Marches to Presidency
Hundreds of protesters descended on the Casco Viejo at 5:30 p.m. to demonstrate in front of the Presidency.
Organized by the National Front for the Defense of Economic and Social Rights, the gathering took a stand against the recently sanctioned tax reforms and against the changes to the curricular plan.
A row of policewomen manned the first line of defense behind the Presidency gates, backed up by anti-riot police with helmets, face armor, shields, gas guns and dogs.
The crowd peacefully dispersed around 6:45 p.m.
In somewhat related news, more than 200 people were arrested in Tuesday’s protests.
