Last Thursday, Denise Mullen Hiller, a Phoenix woman, was found beaten to death in her Punta Paitilla apartment.

Last night, police arrested Daniel Moreno, a former employee of a banking district hotel where he met Hiller, a computer software expert who arrived to Panama last September as a contractor for the Canal expansion project.

Although Moreno denied involvement in the murder, he claimed that the two were romantically involved, reports La Prensa.

Hiller had just returned from a surprise Valentine’s Day visit to her family in Phoenix.

“She was a super person, very happy, and had just made a surprise Valentine’s Day visit to see her family here in Phoenix,” who is close friends with Denise and her husband.
