Panamanian Pulp for the World
The first container of papaya pulp will travel to Europe between April and May of this year, La Critica Reports.
David Bernal, General Manager of Anabela Tropical Fruits, said that the idea to export pulp arose as a way to utilize the great number of fruits that went to waste, since of the $3 million people in Panama, only 300,000 consume fruits. The pulp can now be used as a base for juices abroad for example.
Soon, Anabela Tropical Fruits will export a container a week to the United States and Canada. Also, under consideration for pulp deliveries are Norway, Denmark and Sweden. And, it will most likely not be just papaya since there are also excesses of pineapple, mango, passion fruit and melon.
Fruit pulp has been known to be used to make juice, jams, purees, jellies, nectar, wine, vinegar, and as a beer clarifier and cosmetics ingredient.
