Martinelli Wants Men in Blue in 2010

Starting in 2010, the beige and chocolate-colored National Police uniform will be no more.

Martinelli said a change to blue uniforms is necessary because the current uniforms “are awful” and “all modern police forces need to be professionalized,” reports Panama America.  An official source adds that the police will be better camouflaged at night and that the uniforms will generate respect.

Estimates put costs at $12 per uniform with two per the country’s 16,000 agents.  If the math is correct, that would be $384,000.

This modernization also includes changing the police slogan from “God and Country” to “To Protect and Serve,” which does have a catchy ring to it.

Now that’s leadership and good decision making. A $ 384,000 well spent!

This is a right move. A policeman should look like a policeman and not a military in drab greens. They should completely erradicate the green military uniform and look like real policemen. They should also change to trooper hats instead of using the khepi since hats protect people’s faces from our tropical sun. Good move any way, at last we are goint to have blue knights patrolling the streets.
