Odebrecht vs. the Caldera River
Panama has awarded a sixth public works project to the Brazilian construction company Norberto Odebrecht – a $11.4 million contract to channel the violent Caldera River in Chiriqui.
The company’s Panama portfolio to date includes the coastal beltway and its extension ($241.1 million), the Panama-Colon highway ($283.7), construction of a 5-mile tunnel for the Panama Bay clean-up ($139 million), and the Remigio Rojas system ($54.2 million).
The contracts total over $729 million.
